Emma studied Fine Art at Oxford University at The Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing, specializing in sculpture and film. On graduating she worked in the field of Special effects and Film and this experience informs her practice at the Royal Drawing School. She is interested in exploring the effects of man’s intrusion on a landscape. Her work is based on structure and she builds an image by working on a surface and disrupting it, breaking it down and re- building it. All types of structure concern her, whether man-made or natural. She tries to capture the structure inherent in a landscape, placing one shape against another to form a coherent whole.
